WNA Nutrition Certified Mark

Product recognition governed by defined nutrition criteria

The WNA Nutrition Certified Mark enables eligible manufacturers and brands to communicate conformity with applicable nutrition and assurance requirements through a controlled, independently assessed licence.

Programme basis

Assessment extends beyond a single nutrient threshold

Requirements are applied by product category and in conjunction with identity, composition, evidence, manufacturing and communications controls.

01

Nutrition criteria

Category-specific requirements address relevant nutrient values, ingredients, serving basis, exclusions and qualifying contributions.

02

Product evidence

Formulation records, nutrient data, test results and substantiation must relate to the product and claim submitted.

03

Production control

Manufacturing, supplier, specification, traceability and change controls must support continuing conformity.

04

Responsible communication

Mark placement and accompanying statements must be clear, proportionate and consistent with the licensed meaning.

Manufacturer pathway

From product portfolio to licensed use

  1. 01

    Portfolio screening

The manufacturer identifies candidate products, categories, formulations, markets and proposed launch or renewal dates.

  2. 02

    Technical application

Controlled product information, nutrient declarations, evidence, testing and site details are submitted.

  3. 03

    Independent assessment

The technical record and applicable controls are examined; further evidence or corrective action may be required.

  4. 04

    Certification decision

An independent authorised decision-maker determines conformity and the approved product scope.

  5. 05

    Artwork approval and licence

Permitted mark files, claim wording, placement and market use are authorised under a written licence.

  6. 06

    Market surveillance

Testing, change review, complaint intelligence and use monitoring support continued confidence.

Commercial arrangements

Fees support the full assurance lifecycle

Commercial terms distinguish application administration, technical assessment, required testing or site activity, product or variant extensions, artwork review and the continuing annual mark licence. A portfolio proposal may be issued where products share an eligible technical basis.

Fees are not payment for a favourable decision. Certification and licence status depend upon demonstrated conformity and continuing compliance with the applicable programme requirements.

Market integrity

Claims remain subject to law and programme rules

The applicant is responsible for determining that the product, label, claims and mark use comply with the law in each market. The programme does not replace mandatory authorisation, notification or labelling requirements.

The Association may restrict, suspend or withdraw use where conformity is not maintained, information is inaccurate, required access is denied, fees remain unpaid, or continued use could mislead the public or damage programme integrity.
